Race Parts Achieves its First Export to the Mexican Market

Race Parts participates in the Export Development Program offered by ProCórdoba Agency for the autoparts sector. The company has now achieved its first export.

A few years ago, the Agency implemented the Business Intelligence Service, a strategic tool for Cordobese SMEs. The Service offers Export Development Programs (EDPs) that involve a study of the local offer through interviews with companies in the same sector around different areas of the Province.

The next step is an analysis of general and sectoral variables in order to identify potential export markets. Thus, different destination countries are studied by interviewing importers with a view to learning about their needs, difficulties in engaging in trade activities with Cordobese companies, and their specific demands. These importers provide detailed information about the products they seek, in what volume, etc.

The data obtained is then used to create an EDP specific for each sector. Companies then receive assistance in the form of foreign trade development and business enhancement tools.

The Road to a First Export

Race Parts SRL, based in Córdoba City, is devoted to research, development and manufacture in the motorbike parts and accessories industry.  For a year now, it has actively participated in training and other types of activities offered by ProCórdoba's Export Development Program.

Nadia Serrano, the company's Head of Foreign Trade, explained, "The region has not had the best of years but we worked hard with the Agency on our client base to analyze who to contact. That is how we reached a Mexican client and, from there, things moved pretty fast. The client showed a great interest. We sent them the information and they immediately placed an order. They included us as providers and we were able to send a first sample for the company to see the quality of our products. We are now looking into operations for a next shipment. It has all been an extremely positive experience. The client is very satisfied with our product."

"We use catalogs and pictures for sales. As for the prices, we had to make a few adjustments in order to be competitive and be on the same price range as other brands. There are many companies competing for the market. This has been our first export and we are very happy with it. We are closing a great year and we hold high expectations for 2020," concluded Serrano.

The Business Intelligence Service

In 2019, the company participated in different training activities offered as part of the Export Development Program. These activities are designed to prepare SMEs for a potential export. To name a few, the company took part in a workshop given by a customs broker, where they learned about pricing, costs, digital marketing, etc.

"We joined the program a year ago. ProCórdoba helped us and provided us with a database of potential clients in the different countries we had chosen as possible destinations. We analyzed each client and brushed up to be at the top of our game in the inward mission organized by the Agency in 2019 for the autoparts sector," added Serrano.

"Our company manufactures around 600 sets of pieces, and that's an added value for clients, since it allows us to cater for numerous segments and brands, and provide clients with products that they would otherwise have to procure separately. Besides, we have an excellent post-sales service. This year we started working with an e-commerce platform, and we are developing pieces for a client in the US. As for the program, ProCórdoba's work is remarkable. It really helps to boost Cordobese companies. We turned each challenge into an opportunity," expressed Race Parts manager Rodolfo Scariot.

ProCórdoba congratulates Race Parts SRL on its commitment and this milestone in their history.
