Between October 17 and October 21 there will be a Multi-Sector Trade Mission (MCM) to the cities of Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, in the Federative Republic of Brazil.
The above MCM is inserted into the 2011 Action Plan "Trade, Investment and Development of Foreign Markets Integrated Promotion Program", of the national government, and it will be organized by the Under-secretary of International Trade, in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Cult, with the collaboration of the Ministry of Federal Planning, Public Investment and Services, the Ministry of Economy and Public Finance, the Ministry of Production in the Province of Buenos Aires, the Undersecretary for International Economic Relations, the Chamber of Commerce and the Argentine-Brazilian Export Foundation, among other public and private entities.
Brazil is the main destination of Argentine exports with 21.39% share of total exports last year. In 2010 our exports to Brazil amounted to U$S 14,420.30 with an increase of 26.79% over the previous year. These data reflects the importance of our bilateral trade relationship and the huge potential this market offers to Argentine SMEs.
In this regard, business intelligence works carried out by the Foreign Ministry indicate that the following products and sectors hold good prospects for marketing in that market: food industry (oils, fresh fruits, meats, fish, sweets, juices, dry pasta, etc..), fine wines, auto parts, CNG, machine tools, electrical equipment and components, machinery for food, cosmetics and perfume industry, cleaning supplies, books, building materials, plastics and articles thereof; chemicals, software and computer services and bio-fuels. Other sectors could participate in the mission, subject to confirmation of commercial opportunities in this market.
In turn, the sectors that could be benefited with the withdrawal of up to 60% of tickets and travel expenses in the next Multi-sector Trade Mission to Brazil are: auto parts, articles from the plastic industry, leather goods (footwear not covered); biotechnology-based production, Gourmet production (not wine); electrical materials, packaging machines, machines and tools, clothing, medical equipment, food machines, graphic industries (the sectors to which relevance will be given include stationery, blotters, continuous forms and book editions); service provider industries (health services, services of cultural content, architectural engineering and construction, computer services (not including software development service).
The tentative schedule of activities of the Multi-sector Mission plans the arrival of the corporate delegation on Monday October 17 in the city of San Pablo, where activities will take place on October 18 and 19. On Wednesday night October 19 the delegation will travel to the city of Rio de Janeiro where the activities will be on October 20 and October 21. In both cities there will be business seminars and business rounds.
