During the first six months, the total exports of the Province of Córdoba have reached USD 4,549.55 million. These data come from the statistical report regularly prepared by ProCórdoba Agency, based on the data provided by the National Institute of Statistics and Censuses (INDEC).

If we consider the international sales volume of the province, a total of 7,053,841 tonnes were exported. By comparing the data of Córdoba with those corresponding to the Argentine exports, the province of Córdoba represents the 11.1 percent of the national total.

Major Fields

The Agricultural Manufactures (MOA) meant 48.24 percent of Córdoba exports when fulfilling sales orders of USD 2,194.81 million. With respect to the volume, more than 3.30 million tonnes of MOA have been sold.

Among the most important sectors, an increase in exports of "residues and waste from the food industries" (16.06 percent) and “dairy products” (11.55 percent) was registered and, on the other hand, there was a decrease in exports of "oils and fats” (26.15 percent) and "legume and vegetable preparations" (22.62 percent).

During this semester, the Primary Products (PP) represented 28.08 percent of the total exported by the province. In this sense, the international sales of PP reached USD 1,274 million and in volume, 3.52 million tonnes have been exported.

Within the most important subfields of the province, the export of “seeds, fruits and oilseeds" increased (7.58 percent) and "cereals" decreased (63.60 percent.)

The Industrial Manufactures (MOI) represented 23.73 percent of the international sales of the Province. In this sense, during the first six months of the current year, industrial manufacture sales reached USD 1,079.92 million because 217,482 tonnes of industrial products were exported.

During this period, “chemical and allied products” subfield was the most important one within MOI, which registered an increase in its international sales (68.55 percent.)

There was a decrease in exports of "electrical machinery and equipment" (15.61 percent) and "transport material" (33.36 percent).

With respect to Córdoba export performance, the General Manager of ProCórdoba Agency, Lic. Roberto Rossotto explained:

“The difficulties within the automobile sector and the decrease in exports (because of different reasons) of primary products are the main reasons for the decrease in Córdoba exports. And if you add to this the loss of competitiveness in the Argentine economy and the difficulties companies have to face nowadays in order to have access to foreign trade, the consequence can be seen in the resulting numbers. Anyway, ProCórdoba Agency continues working hard in a committed and responsible way in order to let Córdoba companies have access to the foreign markets. We are confident that the work we do will bring benefits in the near future.”

Export Destinations

Brazil and China were the main destinations of Córdoba exports. In this sense, the neighbouring country and member of MERCOSUR represented 18.45 percent of the international sales of the province when it made purchases of USD 839.42 million.

China represented 12.29 percent of exports by importing for a sum of USD 559.27 million.

The listing of the main 10 export destinations of the first semester is completed with Vietnam (5.44 percent), Chile (3.74 percent), Venezuela (3.45 percent), Argelia (3.38 percent), The Netherlands (3.11 percent), Egypt (2.96 percent), U.S.A (2.78 percent) and India (2.46 percent.)
