ProCórdoba welcomes new Argentine Ambassadors accredited in Mozambique and South Africa

In the framework of the Service of Commercial and Institutional Link with Africa that is carried out from the area of Cooperation and International Relations, together with the Trade Promotion Area, actions for market opportunities and/or for the deepening of business and institutional relations with the region were promoted. In this sense, there were visit agendas for diplomats who wanted to know a priori about the strength of our productive sectors and in relation to the corresponding bilateral market to new destinations.

Authorities of ProCórdoba Agency welcomed Mr. Federico Villegas, the next Argentine Ambassador accredited in Mozambique. It is a new embassy in the country that until now was part of the constituency and attendance of the Argentine Embassy in South Africa. Mr. Villegas, conducted meetings with the Minister of Industry, Commerce and Mining, Mr. Roberto Avalle; the President of ProCórdoba Agency, Jorge Marcotegui; representatives of the Health Sector, Meditech Group (Savant, Promedon, Silmag and Tecme); the President of the Association of Agricultural Machinery and Agro Components Manufacturers of the Province of Córdoba (AFAMAC), Gustavo del Boca; Mr. Mario Bragachini who is responsible for Precision Agriculture of the National Institute of Agricultural Technology (INTA Manfredi), , and the “Fundación Yoyoca África de pie.”

After the meetings, Villegas said:

"The Argentine Embassy in Mozambique is going to have four basic sectors: political, sport and cultural, humanitarian, and commercial-economic. Córdoba can be a strategic partner in any of these sectors, mainly in the commercial-economic one. Mozambique is a great opportunity for Argentina, so I hope that these relationships continue in order to welcome them in the Argentine Embassy that will be inaugurated soon in the African country.”

Because of the interest in the agricultural machinery sector, the Ambassador Villegas was specially invited to participate in Agroactiva Fair, whose International Business Round has been organized by ProCórdoba for 11 years in order to know the companies and main operators of this important productive of the region at first hand. The next Argentine Ambassador accredited in South Africa, Javier Figueroa, was also invited to visit the fair. 

Then, Mr. Villegas visited the province and participated in different meetings with different productive sectors of Córdoba that are interested in entering the South African market. They were coordinated by the Agency. He also learnt more about the next trade mission to South Africa that is being organized by ProCórdoba.

On the other hand, the agenda for Mr. Javier Figueroa, the Ambassador from South Africa,  included meetings with the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Mining; representatives of the Health Sector, Meditech Group; Cordoba Chamber of Metallurgical Industries and Components ; authorities and companies of Peanut Cluster and SEA Group, Emergency Supplies and Humanitarian Aid.

The Ambassador Figueroa was informed about the results of the commercial-institutional exploratory mission that was conducted from ProCórdoba to the Botswana market. The country is under the constituency of its function in the Embassy. Figueroa finished his meeting agenda by saying:

"Today, Africa in general and South Africa in particular is a very interesting market which has a fantastic potential. We hope to be able to contribute to this reality and to improve it in the future.”
