On January 23 Mr. Simon Blengino returned from Singapore, after participating in a scholarship awarded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Singapore on "Policy development to promote growth in small and medium sized enterprises" that was modelled after the exponential development that took place in Singapore from its independence from Malaysia in 1965. The program was developed in the Civil Service College, a University dedicated to training government officials from both Singapore and other countries. Under this program, other 22 officials from the 5 continents attended; besides, meetings were held with the participants in order to identify opportunities for collaboration to promote our province exports.

After the completion of this program and as a continuation of the relations being conducted by the Agencia ProCórdoba area of International Relations and Cooperation with Singapore, various meetings were developed with major advances obtained in both commercial and institutional issues in foreign trade aspects and towards the entry of Cordoba products into Southeast Asia.

Importantly, together with our counterpart in Singapore, International Enterprise Singapore, programs of joint action were plotted to further strengthen existing relations with Agencia ProCórdoba and to increase exports to that country. Besides, the creation of the Southeast Asia desk by the area of Cooperation and International Relations was praised on the "degree of commitment demonstrated by ProCórdoba to strengthening the relations between the two bodies."

Progress was made with the authority responsible for certification and approval of products for entry into Singapore (AVA, the counterpart of SENASA in Argentina), meeting at which the products of our province were presented in order to discuss the requirements for approval and open channels to facilitate this process.

In addition to meetings with a major trader in the region, whose focus goes beyond the B2B to B2C (business to customer), contacts were initiated with two other supermarket chains, one of which (ShengSiong) will be opening branches in Malaysia. In turn, with its chief of procurement issues were discussed related to packaging and relevant attributes products must have for their effective incursion into the region.

For all this, we invite companies interested in entering Singapore and the rest of the Southeast Asian region to contact Agencia ProCórdoba to assist them in their export projects.
