ProCórdoba Helps Autoparts Manufacturer Carry out its First Export

BMB Filter is participating in the Export Development Program for the autoparts sector and it has recently exported a product for the first time, to Uruguay.

ProCórdoba Agency has been working in the autoparts sector since 2017, through its Technical & Commercial Information Department. As part of this work, the Agency has conducted surveys, organized exploratory missions and done market studies in Colombia, Bolivia, Uruguay and Chile to assess the feasibility of the program and the demand for the products of Cordobese SMEs in those countries.

BMB Filter achieved its first export of air filters for racing motorbikes to Uruguay. Sebastián Martínez, managing partner of the company, talked to us about the experience:

We met ProCórdoba at an event in 2018. We took an interest in the program and we began working together with a consultant that paid regular visits and trained us in export matters. The consultant mainly helped to price our product: we had been pricing it at a higher value for years, because we were not familiar with the process. Currently we are very well advised in terms of communication, customs, customs bonded warehouses, and other aspects involved in export operations. After participating in the program for a few months, we have achieved our first export to a Uruguayan company. We are ecstatic and very grateful."

On the other hand, BMB Filter has been actively participating in inward missionswhere it has made contact with international operators.

Martínez said,

We participated in an inward mission and opened communications with a firm from Colombia that expressed a great interest in our product. We are in talks to close the deal. When you are not engaged in the export market, you think exporting is impossible. When I contacted ProCórdoba I thought ‘What are we going to export if we are only an SME?'. Although we have a good product, we thought it would be very difficult, complicated, with endless paperwork to conduct. ProCórdoba trained us and hugely simplified matters: now export is simple and, we realized, possible."

BMB Filter is an an SME devoted to the manufacture of industrial and racing air filters. They are high flow filters for low cylinder capacity motorbikes, karts and quadbikes. The firm has a line of special and innovative products that replace original cardboard or paper filters and enhance the vehicle's performance and power.

The program is conducted together with the Chamber of Metallurgical Industries and Components (CIMCC) and now has nine participating companies from Córdoba.
