Córdoba represents 15% of Argentine exports

From the area of Technical & Commercial Promotion of ProCórdoba, we inform that the exports of the province of Córdoba reached 4,373 million dollars during the first semester of 2016, representing 15% of Argentine exports.

This value meant a 0.36% fall in nominal terms. As regards volume, there was a 22% increase.  This evolution takes place in a stagnation context in international trade. It is caused by a slowdown in growth of the Gross Domestic Product (GDM) and trade in developing economies such as China and Brazil.

According to the World Trade Organization (WTO), these countries represent 13% and 11% of the destination of Córdoba exports and they are our main trading partners. Likewise, the import demand in the developing economies decreased 3.2% during the first semester, recovering slightly (1.5%) during the first three months of the year. The developed economies showed a 0.8% increase during the first three months, and they finally fell at the same rate in the second trimester.

In nominal terms, the slowdown of Córdoba exports was explained by the development of the exports of Industrial Manufactured Products (MOI), which decreased 32%. This fall was attenuated by the increase in agricultural exports, which reached 2098 million dollars, representing 48% of total exports of the province.

As regards the destination of Córdoba exports, 18% of them were concentrated in the countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), followed by the European Union (16%.) Moreover, the exports to these regions experienced an increase of 5% and 19%, respectively.

Besides, the exports to the Common Market of the South (MERCOSUR) and China fell 34% and 24%, representing 13% of Córdoba exports. The fall in exports to MERCOSUR is explained by the retraction in exports of industrial manufactured products to Brazil and 55% of exports are for this country. In China, the fall is explained by the fall in exports of primary products and 29% of exports are for this country.
